For more than 20 years, I taught at the college level, helping students think deeply, write clearly, and engage meaningfully with language. With a Master’s degree in English, I’ve always believed in the power of strong literacy skills — because I’ve seen firsthand what happens when students reach higher education without them.
Three years ago, I stepped into something new.
I began tutoring young students through a High Impact literacy program, working one-on-one with children who needed stronger foundations in reading. That experience changed everything.
I saw how powerful structured, explicit instruction could be in creating confident readers. I watched children grow in confidence when lessons were focused, intentional, and grounded in research. I saw how short, consistent sessions — when done well — could create real momentum.
But I also saw how hard it was for families to access that kind of structured support.
Roots of Reading was born from that intersection — deep knowledge of language and firsthand experience with high-impact tutoring. It brings together science-based reading instruction and a simple, parent-friendly structure that makes implementation clear and manageable.
No guessing.
No random worksheets.
No overwhelm.
Just a thoughtful, step-by-step system designed to help children build strong roots in reading — and grow into confident learners.
Because strong readers aren’t accidental. They’re built on purpose.
